Forest Fires in the

چکیده
This paper presents a summary of the forest fire reports in the insular Caribbean derived from both management reports and an analysis of publicly available Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrodiometer (MODIS) satellite active fire products from the region. A vast difference between the amount of fires reported by land managers and fire points in the MODIS Fire Information for Resource Management System data can be observed. Future research is recommended to better understand the nature of these differences. While there is a general lack of available statistical data on forest fires in the Caribbean, a few general observations can be made: Forest fires occur mainly in dry forest types (500 to 1000 mm of mean annual rainfall). These are also the areas where most human settlements are located. Lowland high forests and montane forests with higher rainfall (1000 and more mm y_1) are less susceptible to forest fire, but they can burn in exceptionally dry years. Most of the dry forest ecosystems in the Caribbean can be considered to be fire-sensitive ecosystems, while the pine forests in the Caribbean (Cuba, Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas) are maintained by wildfires. In fire-sensitive ecosystems, uncontrolled burning often encourages the spread of alien invasive species. A Caribbean Fire Management ISTF NEWS

Forest fire is one of the important problems in Iran which is caused by different factors such as human and natural factors. One of these factors is climate conditions that can be created by heat wave and special circulation of atmospheric phenomena. Occurrence of forest fire in north of Iran have different impacts on environment such as destruction of natural. According to the position of Iran...

Of phenomena which much damage and irreparable import to forests and natural resources is the fire that each year, more than 100 fires occur in Iran and thousands of hectares of trees and plants eliminates. Given that fire risk is high in most parts of the world, full and continuous monitoring on this natural phenomenon, is essential. Use remote sensing is a way to identify and manage fire. Ahe...

Wildfire in forests and rangelands, apart from its initiating causes, is considered as an ecological disaster. Zoning natural areas according to their susceptibility to fire helps to put off operations and reduces catastrophic losses caused through a wise management plan. In this study, the zoning map of wildfire risk in forest and rangeland areas has been produced using GIS, Analytical Hierarc...

Abstract Fire in natural resources is one of the crises that causes irreparable damage to ecosystems and the environment every year. The purpose of this research is to attempt to study areas of risk aversion and to prepare a map of forest fire hazard area by integrating topographic data and other additional information from a GIS system for Golestan province. In order to carry out this resear...
متن کاملThe Housing Boom and Forest Fires
This paper provides evidence that the combination of land-use restrictions and an increasing demand for housing can create incentives to induce forest fires as a means to circumvent regulation and increase the supply of land available for residential construction. I estimate the effect of the price of housing on the incidence of forest fires using Spanish data by region for 1991-2005. The resul...
متن کاملForest Fire Potential Modeling and Simulation of its Extension Using Remote Sensing Data and GIS: (A Protected Area of Arasbaran)
Forest fire models are generally used in different aspects of fire management and are helpful in understanding and prediction of fire behavior. Forest fires cause a significant damage for public property by destroying a large tract of forest. This helps fire fighters to focus on an area with greater risk and to develop better substructure for fire fighter training and ultimately to plan fire-f...
